Beyond his artistic achievements, Mava found unexpected joy in a recent collaboration with Justin LeBlanc, a fashion designer and former Project Runway contestant. Mava invited Justin to serve as a guest lecturer for his ART 495 class and to help prepare students for a fashion show event at Gallaudet University. This partnership became a source of great pride for Mava; not only was Justin delighted to be involved, but he openly admired Mava's work, a compliment that stayed with him long after the event. Taking charge of the event's details, Mava created the promotional materials, coordinated interviews, and stepped up as Mistress of Ceremonies, debuting his drag persona, "Missy Take," to host the show with flair.

Their successful collaboration highlighted Mava's commitment to creating unique experiences for his students and emphasized the influence of his creative network. This partnership was more than a one-off project; it strengthened Mava's connection to the fashion industry and proved his ability to bring high-caliber talent into his classroom.

The Washburn Art Center's new twisted studio space offered Mava's senior art students a fresh sense of independence. This space was designed for senior Art and Media Design majors to immerse themselves in year-long projects. Under the mentorship of Mava and Professor Scott Carollo, students researched career fields, drafted proposals, and dedicated their final academic year to developing a cohesive body of work. Their journey would culminate in a professional portfolio, an end-of-year show, and a website showcasing their talents.

Students have struggled to find secure places to store their materials in past years, lugging their work between classrooms and home. That changed this summer when Scott and Mava transformed a long-overlooked storage room into an innovative studio space. They constructed twelve individual nooks with a small, angled layout to serve as dedicated work areas for the seniors. These private nooks housed students' projects and materials and fostered an artistic community within WAC. Mava envisioned this space as a vibrant, year-round hub. In this place, students could display their progress, receive critiques, and find inspiration from one another, knowing the studio was open until midnight, whenever creativity might strike.

Mava's contributions as an educator reached far beyond the classroom. He did not shape minds but built the creative environment in which his students worked. Mava designed gallery displays, curated exhibitions, and constantly adapted to new software like TinkerCad, MakerBot, and CapCut to guide students through modern digital and 3D design. His command of these tools proved essential in leading TinkerLab interns through technical challenges, supporting their creative research projects, and helping bring their designs to life. Through all of this, Mava crafted a uniquely enriching experience for his students that blended digital and hands-on skills with the kind of industry insights that only someone as immersed in the art world as he could provide.
